Women Ministries Day - AUGUST 2006

Theme: Ready or not, He's Coming!

Women Ministries Day was celebrated on August 12, 2006 at Ebenezer. Sis. P. Green and associates selected a theme fitting for our time, "Ready or not, He's Coming!"

We were blessed with the presence of Sis. Yvonne Knight, Director, Women Ministries of the Greater New York Conference.  She presented the church with a beautiful plaque for being the biggest group of women attending the 2006 Women’s Retreat. Pastor E. Baldwin graciously accepted the gift.  Sis. Green looks on.

Sis. Cheryl George, assistant Secretary of Ebenezer’s Women Ministries, gave a detailed report of their accomplishment to-date.

Sis. C. Noel  blessed our hearts with two beautiful musical selections.  The lyrics reminded us of our sinful nature and assured us that Jesus will always come through for us because He is a merciful, loving and kind God. The Bible tells us that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 3: 23, 24) Praise His Holy Name.

The keynote speaker, Sis C. Carryl, is native of St Lucia and has served as Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations for her country for 16 years. She is a woman of God and is committed to do His will. Her topic, “The Fulfillment of Prophecy and the Last Day Events,” was timely and clearly points to the signs of the times.  The Bible says:  “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place; whoso readeth, let him understand.  (Matthew 24:15).  She exhorted us to  relinquish our worldly possessions and prepare ourselves to meet Jesus because His coming is eminent.

Prayer breakfast was held on Sunday, August 13th. Women, men and children were in attendance.  Sis Green greeted us and introduced the speaker, Sis. T. Anderson.  She had no specific topic but permitted herself to be led by the Holy Spirit. She focused on our relationship with Christ and how we relate to our fellowmen. Most of all, she expressed her burden for Ebenezer's younger members and asked that we work with them in a loving manner.

We separated in groups and made our requests known to God.  We claimed his promises where He said “I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save." and that He is a God ready to pardon,  gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness and will never forsake us.” Nehemiah 9:17.

The Holy Spirit was manifested as prayers ascended heavenward on behalf of wives, husbands, single men and women including children. Jesus Himself came down to worship with us and comfort each mother as she petitioned for her children. It was a morning of spiritual upliftment.

The spiritual experience was followed by a healthy scrumptious breakfast in the fellowship hall.

We were graced with the presence of Sis. Cislyn Fenton—visiting with us from Jamaica.  She is a member of the Peter’s Field Seventh-day Adventist Church.
