The Greatest Love of All By Sherlyn Lewis Youth Explosion was launched on January 22, 2006. The occasion was exploded with a sea of young people despite the fact that this was a Sunday evening. The Holy Spirit led them there because they knew that they had a date with God and they knew that they were going to be blessed tremendously. It was the first time in Ebenezer’s history that the church was full of young people. A sign-in sheet was posted at the front desk for each young person to write their opinion as to what they thought they would derive from the meeting or to express what the Lord has done for them. After an exciting discussing among themselves, they proceeded upstairs to the meeting.
The singspiration came to an end, and the Brooklyn Drum Corps stepped on to the stage. Two of the members are our very own Kamara McPherson and Denny Hall. After a lively singspiration and good beats, the rest of the program was ready to start off with a bang. Our very own Elder Harris offered the prayer of dedication. While it is always good to hear the youth choir sing, it was refreshing to see members from other churches participating in our Youth Explosion. A singing group named “Laos: started another singspiration, which was followed by special music and a presentation by our very own “Echoes of Praise.” Although there were some technical difficulties, the message they brought was an inspiration to all. Elder Scipio, our Youth Explosion coordinator, introduced his staff and The main feature was the sermon entitled “The Greatest Love of All” delivered by Pastor G. Earl Knight, Executive Secretary of the Greater New York Conference and one of Ebenezer’s past pastors. His message was an inspiration to all. The main point of his message was that there will never on this earth be a love comparable to that love that Jesus showed when he laid down his life and died for our sins. Kamillah made a special presentation to Pastor Knight in the form of a plaque on behalf of Ebenezer’s Youth Explosion for his support of this new program. She then commented that they, the preachers/speakers in training, will be better speakers than him one day. The evening ended with another singspiration. The Youth Choir and Laos joined together to sing “Our God Reigns.” The harmony was just heavenly. Ebenezer’s Youth Explosion started on a good note. It was a beautiful, exciting, inspiring night, and we pray that every meeting night (Sunday evenings at 6:00 P.M.) will be as wonderful or more magnificent. The challenge is left to us. With God on our side, no one can be against us. |
