GOD ANSWERS PRAYER

By Roxanne Scipio

Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth. Ecclesiastes 12:1. This admonition by David, the love of Christ and wanting to make a difference in today’s society continues to propel the Ebenezer Youth Explosion, Sunday night after Sunday night to explore new ideas and create programs to enrich lives both spiritually and morally.

Like any other fiesta night, the evening began with a new addition to the program; a DVD show captioned “Contractions” was played before the program to reinforce end time prophecy.

The program continued at 6:45 pm with opening prayer by Sis Melissa Vanzie followed by a very lively song service done by Sisters, Anissa Walker, Melissa Vanzie and Kathy Joe-Brown. The evening proceeded with spiritual items such as a devotional feature by Sis Keisha Agard, poems done by Sis. Vassel and Sis Casanova. Sis S. Orr and Sis. M. Vaughn respectively, helped to enrich the evening with special music by lifting their beautiful voices in praise to God.

Bringing the spoken word to the youth, young at heart and visiting friends was a talented and God-fearing young man, Brother Michael Innocent. The Holy Spirit used him mightily as he delivered his power-packed sermon.

The high point demonstrated in the message was that God answers prayer. During the message examples were given of how he encountered and overcame these challenges. We were reminded that our life styles should represent Christ at all times. Once again it was evident that, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The evening ended with prayer by Elder Philbert encouraging all to model our lives after Christ. The youth continued to enjoy the evening with a game of bible run-charade; a game of explaining words and phrases without speaking (actions only) and a delicious Mexican snack prepared by the youth themselves.
