Who Will Lead God’s People? By Kamilah Brathwaite On April 23, 2006 the Youth Explosion had their Youth Fiesta. It was a great celebration. The song service was done by our wonderful young ladies Melissa, Lori and Tatyana. They lifted our spirits. Our gracious host for the evening was Ann Marie-Morrison. She was introduced to us by Elder R. Scipio. She started us off with the opening prayer. Jonathon Powell did the Scripture reading which was taken from 2 King 22:1-2. Lori Powell blessed our hearts with a beautiful poem entitled “The Lost Test”. Shontae Lewis recited a story about “The man who couldn’t be killed.” That was followed by special music from our very own Children’s Choir. They encouraged us to make an effort to get along with each by rendering the song “Get along God’s children has love in your heart for everyone.” Kayla Morrison and Yojany Goddard engaged in a debate. The topic was: Will God use an unwilling person to do his will? Kayla proposed while Yojany opposed. After they both made very convincing arguments, the Children’s Choir sang another song. We then received the results from the debate; it was Yojany with 49 points and Kayla with 43 points. The senior youth also had a debate. On team one there was Keisha Agard and Kamilah Braithwaite. On team two was Shem George and Michael Innocent. The topic was “Should the Ten Commandments be obeyed at all times.” Team one proposed while team two opposed. When the debate was over, team one had 73 points and team two had 57 points. The judges for the debates were Sis. Powell and Elder Delandro. They did a great job. Judy John delighted us with special music, which prepared our minds to hear the word. Damian Scipio presented the message for the evening entitled, “Who will lead God’s people.” He really stirred our minds and compelled us to think about our readiness to take the gospel to other and to lead people to our master. After that wonderful sermon, Elder Philbert offered closing prayer. It was now time for dinner. The dinner prepared by the youth was truly delicious and greatly appreciated. What sweet fellowship. May God continue to truly bless and those who attend our weekly program.
