HEALTH FAIR 2007
The Ebenezer’s Health and Temperance Department, headed by Meredith Harris and Associates, sponsored a Health Fair on Sunday, June 3. Many attended this function. Individuals passing by were also invited to the screenings.
Several booths were set up with the relevant equipment for the different screenings. These include:
Dental
Blood sugar
Blood pressure
Prostate
Eye Screening
Asthma and others
A wealth of information were disseminated to the attendees, including health reform, vegetarianism, meal planning, health educational pamphlets and books and a host of other information. The practitioners at each booth were very friendly and helpful in explaining and answering questions.
Our New York conference of Seventh-day Adventists Community Health Services van was also present.
Our Community Services leader, Gladys Glasgow and Randy DeLandro was also present. "The Community Services ministry is an important feature of the outreach (missionary) activities of the church. This Ministry includes more than just giving material aid; it emcompasses also adult education, visiting, homemaking, home nursing, counseling, and other services."
The American Red Cross handed out a packet with information on emergency preparedness that is vital in the event of a hurricane and other disasters.
